Part II: God’s Justice – Lament and Belonging

Justice, in God’s dictionary looks pretty different from our common definition, and Christ’s followers are called to live out of that Gospel meaning. In order to do so, we must begin by lamenting all that is wrong and then allow the Spirit to weave us into the a story of new belonging.

About our speaker

A wife of one and mother of many, theologian, missiologist, educator and storyteller, Ruth Padilla Deborst has been involved in leadership development and theological education for integral mission in her native Latin America for several decades. She directs the Comunidad de Estudios Teológicos Interdisciplinarios (CETI – www.ceticontinental.org), a learning community with Master’s and Certificate level programs across Latin America. She coordinates the Networking Team of INFEMIT (International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation –www.infemit.org) and serves on the board of Arocha and of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. She lives in Costa Rica with her husband, James, and fellow-members of the Casa Adobe intentional Christian community (www.casaadobe.org). Her studies include a Bachelors in Education (Argentina), an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Wheaton College) and a PhD in Theology (Boston University).

About the Downey Lectures

The Downey Endowment at Ambrose University funds an annual lectureship and assists future M.Div. students. The endowment and lecture series commemorates Murray W. Downey, a founding member of the faculty of Canadian Bible College.

The Downey Lectureship is a free and public event. No registration is required.
